"She Made Me Do It - I was so impressed I bought a CD there and then"

This was one of those gigs that I really wanted to write up as normally what you get are some mediocre support bands and the main headliner. In this instance it was very much the other way, with me being impressed by all the support bands, and merely bemused, albeit entertained by the headlining band.

SHH were an interesting duo with Diana Huarte on vocals and Daniel Gorostegui on programming, keyboards and violin. The music was very interesting and the performances, slightly whacky in an Eddie and Sunshine meets Hazel O’Connor way, but all in all incredibly entertaining, very danceable euro/electropop (in a good way). I thoroughly enjoyed the performance and the live violin added to the uniqueness of the show, and definitely worth going to see.

Diana’s vocals are very strong and operatic and her performance is very energetic. The crowd seemed to enjoy the show and it was obvious there were a number of dedicated fans in the audience – most enjoyable. 7/10

She Made Me Do It are another duo, but tonight joined by a third member on stage who played keyboards, and some very 80’s percussion pads, with Shaheena Dax live on vocals and Will Crewdson on guitar. Shaheena showed her professionalism during the first song as, due to a technical issue, Will’s guitar could not be heard. Swift action by the sound crew corrected this for the subsequent numbers and the performance was very entertaining.

Sound wise the style and sound of Shaheena’s vocals reminded me of Transvision Vamp (again a good thing in my mind) and Will's jangly guitar added to the whole performance. I was so impressed I bought a CD of their music there and then and, having listened to that, in all probability will add more of their music to my collection, and I would certainly go to see them again. 8/10

Naked Lunch are one of the original bands from the Some Bizzarre album, and one I have followed since those days, I was happily surprised a few years ago when they reformed and have watched the new line up gel over the past few performances. I found it amazing how much the band had progressed since June 2013, when they last played at Electrowerkz, the sound, performance and new material all added up to make as someone in the audience said “An awesome performance”.

I have to say the crowd was dancing from the front to the back of the audience. To be honest, I got so carried away with the music, I did not even take any photographs of them (sorry) but it was one of their best shows to date. 9/10

Sigue Sigue Sputnik Another band from the 1980’s and one with more commercial success than Naked Lunch, I was looking forward to seeing the band, famed back then for having two drummers and a very hypnotic beat. I was therefore surprised to find the new line up had no drummers! Anyway, they played an interesting set list including Love Missile F1-11 and 21st Century Boy, but the music did not grab me and the sound quality of the set was not up to the standard of any of the support acts. Yes the performances were very entertaining, and the crowd seemed to love them but for me I was not as impressed as I had hoped to be by the headline act. 7/10
