Effortlessly
walking away with the 'most uncompromising name of the year' award,
British male/female duo Beinaheleidenschaftsgegenstand (perhaps
unsurprisingly) firmly throw down the gauntlet on the musical front
too. Which is satisfying. Having established such a resolutely 'fuck
convention' attitude to naming themselves, anything less would have
felt like a cop-out. This is their third release and their first album.
In
naming themselves Beinaheleidenschaftsgegenstand
(Noun: The thing that is almost the thing you want... but not quite)
they're seemingly uninterested in their discover-ability
(either by word of mouth, and good luck typing that into Google),
and instead focus purely on what's important – integrity. That's not to
say
Red Threads
winds up being a worthy but un-listenable
release. Not in the slightest. They've put both heart and soul into
producing an admittedly dark and challenging series of soundscapes but
in doing so have turned in a beautifully honest, if abrasive, suite of
compositions. 7/10
