"Her
songs come more to life live than on recordings"
Wednesday
12th November 2014 finds me at O2 Shepherds Bush to see La
Roux, with my 12 year old daughter to see her first gig in a major
venue.
La Roux (AKA Ellie Jackson) has always been one of those groups
I have not been 100% certain of, whilst I love the very 80’s sound of
the music and synths, and the lyrics to the songs great, I find her
voice a tad harsh for my liking on record. To my surprise and
delight live her voice sounds much rounder and her
songs come more to life live than on recordings. She played a number of
tracks from her two albums, including Tigerlily, Bulletbroof, In for
the Kill, Growing
Pains and Uptight
Downtime.
My daughter thoroughly enjoyed the gig and so did I. 7/10
