Considered lyrics, an alt-metal foundation, melodic (often lush) synthpads overlain, high, medium and low BPMs, harsh and soft-spoken vocals, it's hard to say who will definitely like this (it's clearly not concerning itself with convenient labels or appealing to a specific marketing demographic) this but there's a lot to like in such as disarmingly different approach to composition. Much credit due then to label Static Distortion Records for providing a non-judgemental home for this.
It is still possible to be too outré for your own good though, and the choice of name does it here. MiXE1 is, apparently, pronounced Mikes1 on account of founder member Mike Evans. No-one in their right mind looking at the name will come up with that pronunciation. I'd recommend quickly changing the name into something more evocative of the diversity of sound. But, of course, MiXE1 aren't worried about those in their right minds. Disarmingly different – it's the new black. 7/10
