(1996)
In the 1980s, there was a brief fondness for 'nouvelle cuisine': teeny portions
of superbly cooked but hideously overpriced cuisine. Gunsmith Cats reminds me
of this. At £12.99 its scarcely cheap when you discount the ditch-water-dull
"Making of" documentary tacked on afterwards as shameless filler.
It's a shame,
as the actual episode is fast, furious and fun, starting off the adventures
of an all-female team of bounty hunters, blackmailed into doing governmental
dirty work. With
great attention to detail on the hardware of guns and cars, it plays like a
pink, frilly version of a John Woo film. Don't blink though, or it'll all be
over. Good, just not good value. 6/10
