Film Reviews:

Escape From Brothel

(Lung Wei Wang, HK, 1992)

Sleazy Category III release is more gripping then the sleeve might indicate. Sure there is lots of soft-core sex, some sadistic, but this ias much about exploitation as it is actually being exploitation. Not that this forgives the scenes of depravity of course. Themes of women treated as objects by lowlife underworld characters and Chinese illegally entering Hong Kong from the mainland are genuinely absorbing if unremittingly grim viewing. A widescreen version with remastered subtitles is available on the Eastern Heroes label. And yes, that probably should be Escape From The Brothel but it isn't!
