Vision Talk

[Unlike sleeve]"Unlike" (Single, 2011)

conzoom Records

Rather good 7-track EP from Swedish four-piece Vision Talk. Another recent addition to the also rather good Conzoom label. Unlike is catchy and memorable – so good single fodder. It’s also essentially a very simple (synth) pop song, oozing a welcome positivism (despite its classic love-problem lyrics) lending itself well to the remix treatment from the likes of People Theatre, and Parralox.

Of the five versions of Unlike, Lustobjekt’s Extended Remix fat analogue synth sounds combined with lounge cool sensibilities is perhaps the most unexpected; whilst Parralox's It's A Sinitta the most cheeky – though People Theatre's jittery so-called Devsion remix is probably my favourite. Richard Flow's lead vocals touch on Andy Bell territory from time to time, but thankfully do not seek to imitate. Rounded off with two remixes of The Loner, a slower ballad, this may not be remarkably original but certainly does enough to put Vision Talk on the map. Followers of Parralox are likely to be most partial. 6/10
